How Long Does it Take to Get a PhD?
PhD programs in biochemistry can be expensive and often require an extensive amount of time, 4-5 years, to complete, but many schools offer PhD students some form of financial aid that can offset.Ultimately, earning a Ph.D. takes around 5-6 years to complete, usually involving 2-3 years of coursework and qualifying exams followed by a number of years to complete a dissertation.PhD in Biochemistry The Department offers a three- or four-year full-time PhD programme. Students undertake a specific research project of three to four years' duration and submit a thesis which is examined for the PhD.PhD students independently conduct original and significant research in a specific field or subject, before producing a publication-worthy thesis of typically 60,000-90,000 words in length - although a number of institutions, such as the University of Cambridge, have set an upper limit of 80,000 words.
