The Law School has long been established as a recognised centre of excellence in research and graduate teaching in environmental law, spanning international, EC and national law and policy. Graduate Diploma in Law. The GDL is specially designed as the conversion course into legal study. It is the pathway into practice for non-law graduates. If you have completed an undergraduate degree in a non-law field and want to study law at a postgraduate level you’ll first need to complete this conversion course. With a modular structure.

Bangor School of Law welcomes applications from suitably qualified graduates to read for the degrees of PhD, MPhil and LLM Res by research. For a PhD degree, you are expected to present the results of your research in a thesis which represents a significant original contribution to knowledge in the subject area studied, and to undergo a viva voce examination.

Law is a large and supportive subject at Jesus College. It includes three groups: undergraduates, postgraduates and Fellows. The College admits around 10 undergraduate students each year, as well as around 10 LLM (Master of Laws) and MCL (Master of Corporate Law) students, and typically around two students researching for a PhD in Law.

The PhD in Law is a full-time research degree that takes three to four years to complete. PhD scholars can receive one-to-one supervision once a month during the initial stages of their research. However, meetings may be less frequent thereafter.

PhD in Law Postgraduate research students are usually registered initially for the degree of PhD. Your initial studies, under the guidance of an academic supervisor, will prepare you for confirmation of your PhD registration, which takes place within two years (full time), and provide you with the essential foundation to help you make an original contribution to knowledge in your chosen field.

As a PhD Law student you will become part of the school’s primary unit system, which provides support for research students, and you will be invited to participate in the Law School's staff seminar programme. There may also be opportunities to undertake some part-time teaching within the school.

Anglia Law School has strong links to research networks in Anglia Ruskin and the wider community, including the Policing Institute for the Easter Region (PIER). We also host and take part in many other research events, including regular Faculty and departmental research seminars, which will allow you to present your research in a safe and supportive setting.

Land Economy offers a full-time PhD programme. The Department currently has over 70 PhD students at different stages of the programme, working in a range of areas. The Department is part of the University's ESRC Doctoral Training Centre for Social Sciences.
