Admissions Requirements The Neuroscience and Behavior Program for doctoral students seeks applicants with a record of academic excellence, who can present evidence of strong scientific background and training at the undergraduate level. All graduate admissions are handled according to Graduate School guidelines and procedures.

For the post-master’s PhD, 32 credits of coursework are required. The required courses are the same as for the post-bachelor’s PhD. However, depending on the student’s background, one or more of the required courses may be waived via petition to the BU Graduate Program for Neuroscience Graduate Education Committee (GEC).

The field of neuroscience draws its impetus from recent advances in molecular and cell biology, neuroimaging, systems neuroscience and bioinformatics, as well as incorporating a wide variety of conventional disciplines including anatomy, neurology, psychology and psychiatry.

Cambridge Neuroscience has members from many different departments, so it is worthwhile investigating if there are any specific departmental submission requirements. Once you have identified a potential supervisor, a formal application via the Board of Graduate Studies can be made.

Neuroscience is a collaborative and interdisciplinary PhD program that provides training for careers in neuroscience research, teaching and more. Our training program is designed to provide a strong foundation of neuroscience knowledge while at the same time taking into account each student's strengths, needs and career goals.
